I've seen this fitted to a few cars now and was wondering how you can up the boost at the touch of a button. I recently bought a bleed valve to do that job but I would like to have have 2 pre set boost settings
Road (14psi) and overtake the twat in the beemer (300psi)

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please as I'm a noob
Cheers

Piece of pipe off the 3rd leg on the bleed valve, with a 12v solenoid valve on the end wired to a switch, valve closed it will run actuator boost, flick the switch to open the valve, it will bleed the air off to what ever the bleed valve is set too.

to get a base level of 14psi, you will need a 14psi actuator etc.

And you will need to fuel for the high boost all the time making it rather rich on low boost

maybe a stupid question but could you run somthing like a modern day "sport" button in the car that is linked to MJ and will change to anoher pre-set map which is designed for the higher boost?

The turbo build has finally started

You can switch maps but that has nothing to do woth the fueling.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Why not wire up the original Metro Turbo solenoid, a simple cockpit mounted switch can open & close it to vary boost. Simple & cheap.

I will probably do this as I have a couple of those solenoids kicking around somewhere

I have read that the metro turbo valve will only flow enough to bleed of 4psi.

Andy, I have never thought about wiring them up to the same switch. Decent idea

the part throttle will richen up the off-boost/ non full throttle area though, and the metro valve aint bad tbh, mine will go from 4psi- about 8 ish with no restrictor

I use the metro anti run on valve and it goes 7 -16 psi at the flick of a switch

Metro turbo solenoid will flow plenty, especially if you fit a restrictor in the bleed line.

If you have FI, then you don't need two maps. You just don't use the high boost bit when on low boost.

You can adjust your afr with a pitot tube to correct your fueling, getting rid of the resctrictor ring will also free up a couple of psi.. simple, cheap and efficient tune.

The ball spring boost regulators can cause boost spikes, be carrefull with these, a set of solenoids are a lot better.

don't know your budget, but boost correction thru a boost controller and valve is like playing football with Zidane instead of Chabal... *wink*
