Hi!

I've just spotted a RHD S-Class Merc with a plate that looked like a UK plate, but only 'XY7' on it... What's that? Some sort of diplomatic number!?

Is a 1903 - 1932 plate, the first set of number plates in the UK.

The letters are the area, the letters have no direct relationship to the location, its done on area population so London was A, wherever had the second highest population in 1902 was B and so on.

The number is between 1 and 9999
