Anyone running this? Seems to be a few benefits such as shorter inlet track, no hassle finding space where there is airflow and perhaps more consistent inlet temps Edited by mayoturbo on 13th Jun, 2012. |

I will be running it in early August if all goes to.plan. I'll be running a gay supercharger though On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Even if you have a crappy side-mount intercooler it is better than none. Then use water/meth to compliment it. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Have a look at the link I've posted, it mentions several scientific testing procedures on supercharged engines with water injection as a detonation suppressor. How about a 73% rise in BMEP before detonation occured, the possibility to run 80 octane fuel instead of 100 without problem as well as massively leaning out fuel mixture without adverse effect? The comment on intercooling was ment as some additional info with regards to the "any intercooler is better than none" comment made in this thread. Just some stuff gathered during my days of integrale ownership.... |

The phrase this forum like to quote is that the intercooler is not the icing on the cake, it is more the cake.

BTW there's another interesting use of water; external intercooler spray to increase intercooling efficiency.

The thing with all these systems is that before you should even consider them you should be looking at getting a good intercooler installed in the first place. Also for most on here they will not be running sustained boost for long periods so extra cooling should not be necessary. Fit the biggest cooler you can from a reputable supplier and you should be ok. With the space available on a mini it is difficult to fit one that is too big..... http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

My point exactly, given the limited space available in a mini fitting a cooler of both ample size placed within a proper flow path on a cool location can be challenging indeed. We could discuss and theorise on the subject all we want, I'd like to leave it at the fact that the techniques are there for those interested and that it only takes a pair of thermocouples and manometers to measure before and after cooler temperature & pressure drop to take any guesswork away and assess whether your system might benefit from additional measures. |

I have a custom alloy intercooler behind the grill, takes very little work to make it fit, and are very efficient. Audi s4 b5 - 470bhp & 486ft lbs

We are currently fitting this to get some real data. I'm not sure a manometer is much use under full boost :)

Or an example of a sensor mad install. Look on the inlet and outlet of the IC.

I have one of these one my shopping list: http://www.aquamist.co.uk/cp/H3.html But only so that I can run high boost with 9.5:1 CR. The biggest intercooler I can fit takes priority. The water injection will only be used once everything else is working properly, not to cover deficiencies elsewhere. Paul, Do you need the Aquamist controller or can you use the MS3 for that? Jean |

Water has been good on my supercharger setup, and that's with a home brew cheapo setup. Doesn't seem to use much water I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I've just installed an older version of the Aquamist linked. Not really had a play yet, but (weather permitting) I'll be on the strip this weekend doing lots of fiddling.

Jean, Is that a possibilty? EDIT: Seems I can program one of the spare MS3X PWM outputs to drive a solenoid valve :) Just need to build a regulated water supply system. Well, I haven't looked into it but there is a water injection feature in the 'advanced engine 2' menu. Jean |
