Can someone please tell me what the adjustablity of a Blow Off Valve is used for? I see them with adjustability of like 10 - 25 PSI
I am running 7 - 10 PSI now so would that work on the 7 PSI? Does the adjustability prevent the valve from opening on it's own under boost?

Thanks
Graham

Are you getting confused with Wastegate Actuator?

BOV is basically a noisy equivalent of our dump-valve...

No I am talking about the Blow off Valve, not the wastegate. Some of the ones I see on Ebay say they are adjustable with either shims or springs. This is why I am curious, I am not sure what the adjustability would be for.

Graham

Thought id just add to this rather than start a new topic... the universal recirc valves that u can get rather cheap on ebay.. can these be used as dump valves by just leaving the outlet to atmosphere?? U can get pretty much the same thing as a dump valve i know but the recirc ones come with different rate springs where as the dumpvalve ones dont..

It's possible to induce compressor surge with an adjustable bov, they give an adjustable resistance instead of full pressure relief. Gives the boy racer chipmunk noises, puts a grin on your face but obviously it's not good for the turbo.

Just fit a bosch recirc bov from a vw or Audi turbo car, black plastic 99 p on eBay, you can plum it back into the air box pipe work.
I guess it would have had one from factory being a nissan sx, expect it's been removed to give the noise. Hasn't it got an air mass meter for the fueling?
Yes you could just leave it open to atmosphere , I run mine like that in my mini, I've fitted a silencer to keep things quiet.

Not much left of standard, the airfilter is behind passenger headlight, and pipework for dumpvalve is on the otherside behind drivers headlight on the intercooler pipework, ill find the type of thing im looking at.. hang on...

ive got a blitz supersound bov and that has a screw on top to adjust it, but it doesnt do much,

i drove mine with the standard spring and it wouldnt dump at all, so ive had to buy a softer spring
