Having some probs with this pipe, I was told to block it off however when I do it doesn't run.
When I remove the pile it runs fine however squirts fuel out, is that rite?

Thanks for the help guys.

If its not blocked up it needs to connect to the nipple on the top of the carb, just in front of the dashpot.

Kwl iv done that now, all I need to know now is if it's meant to have fuel passing through it?

Also why would blocking it off stop it running?

Cheers guys

if fuel is pissing out there, your float bowl needle jet is stuck open or your fuel pressure is way too high

because the fuel that was pouring out that tube is pushing past the needle out the jet into the inlet manifold and it will be way too rich to run

I think it's all good I Turned the adjustment screw at the back of the carb.

There's only 1 more problem, it's the worst one " I don't know what I'm doing with su carbs"

Anyone on here live in or near hull?

Cheers

My friend the search button will find you all you need to know. With that pipe removed the car will idle fine but will cut out at the first hint of boost the carb is subjected to.
Fuel pressure at idle taken from a point between the carb and fuel pressure regulater should be 3-5psi

Yeah did some searching but I wasn't sure if the carb was fooked. As far as i was aware the regulator was set fine on the car It came from however in hindsight I believe I may have a more powerful fuel pump.

Thanks for the help guys sorry for repeating something that's probly been covered a thousand times.

You can get fuel pressure gauges off ebay for very little.

Rite checked fuel pressure it was spot on however iv inspected the carb to find a horror. The float chamber was full to the top and the adjustment arm for the mixture screw missing the bit that moves up and the jet was jammed.

Time for a rebuild I think.

No haven't removed anything, I'm new to these carbs so looking in there was a bit forgein.

Will I have to source these parts from a donor carb or can I buy them new?

Thanks guys

PM turbophil, he will supply you a rebuild kit. There's a very good writeup on how to do it, it's not difficult.

Yeah I will, just wondered if the missing bits come in the rebuild kit?

Cheers
