I need to drive the mini on Saturday to the mechanic who will be transplanting my freshly built turbo engine which Benross has just completed putting together.

The car is SORN'd at the moment but I tried a couple of sites/providers tonight to see how much it would cost etc but I haven't been able to even get a quote as apparently i'm uninsurable (22yrs old, 4yrs NCB).

Who do you use/recommend for short term insurance as at the moment im stuck up a sheet creek without a paddle.

Equally, if anybody has a trailer which I could borrow for some beer tokens on Saturday who's based in SE London, I would be eternally grateful.

Never been able to do what your attempting to do myself but for what my premium was I paid the full whack! Remember if you have no MOT or Tax old bill may not take any excuse you offer if stoped and your insurance may not cover you for said journey

Get the mechanic to pick it up. He will have mechanics insurance.

You can rent trailers for not too much money, worth a shot.

last time i tried short term insurance, it was very expensive. I'd either get the mechanic to pick up (he'll neen trade plates if it is sorned i'd have thought).

Alternatively, might be worth asking some of of the local recovery guys. You might get a deal

Have you got an older sister that could insure it for you?

How far has it got to move? Round here there is a guy who will move stuff on a beavertail tranny for £1 a mile minimum £25. Not worth fucking about for that.

Thanks for the input guys.
Distance wise its a 60 mile trip.
Can't ask the mechanic to come and pick it up himself as he works everything himself and he'd be losing custom and money having to take the train to Bromley before driving the car back to the workshop.
I'm sure i'll work something sensible out
