Can I use a Turbo Head Gasket (BK450?) on a standard unmodified SPi. I know it will fit but are there any implications regarding thickness and therefore lowering the compression ratio.

Its the wifes car and I know she will want the compression figures before and after thye gasket replacement!

It is only coming off to do the valve stem oil seals so the figures should be similar before and after.

I'd use a bk450 regardless on a 1275. Shouldn't affect the CR.

The AF470 is probably what's listed for the SPI.

Both it and the BK450 are composite gaskets and virtually identical.

The only difference (so far as I can see) is the AF470 has a built-in O-ring seal around the oil feed drilling (that feeds the rockers) so is less likely to dribble oil down the back of the block.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

Have you tried putting a head in the dishwasher and seeing if she notices?

What has alarmed me is the different compressed volume stated for BK450 i think was 4.00cc and I think AF470 is 2.8cc - I know what it means but have no idea what difference 2.8cc to 4.00cc would make.

I dont think she is even going to let me put her head in the dishwasher.

BK450 is 3.8cc compressed. Pretty sure the AF470 is the same.

Keep leaving car parts around the place, slowly you can wear them down! I have a selection of Peugeot parts including brake discs and calipers(admittedly newly plated and very clean) on the lounge coffee table at the moment.

I have various car part hiding places throughout the house.

I have pistons in my office, wheels in the en-suite cupboard, some bits in the kitchen cupboard.

That reminds me I need to bring my crank in from the garage!

Old house was better as it has a nice gap between the fitted fridge and freezer where I stuffed loads of bits.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I left a supercharger on the kitchen table for about 6 weeks, that got her really pissed. *smiley*

The spare beds will be covered in freshly painted panels in the next few days...
