Thought it would be a good idea to re-torque the head whilst warm after running today.

Set my torque wrench to 55ft pounds turned the nut a few turns and something wasn't right!!

My torque wrench didn't click off instead I snapped the head stud! Hufffffff

I had to de torque the head to get the stud out, now I'm in two minds to get a new gasket or not. I might of over torqued and squished the metal rings on with it been a bk450.

What you guys think?

Change the gasket for peace of mind.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

What studs are these? There are some real cheap shit on the market at the moment being passed off as genuine. I snapped one of those torquing down too.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Yeah I agree with that, I read an article on mini mania saying to re torque at operating temperature, then again the torque table on that website I used was saying to torque the head at 44ft pounds.

I wont be using info from that website from now on.

I believe the studs I used were genuin however they were from a donor engine so I have no way of knowing.

I'll order another head gasket *frown*
