Australia oi oi oi!

this can be done with the A series, done on ausmini but no one in aus has done with the A + something to do with the oil feed drilling being to hard? or not sure they wanted to risk killing a block.

have you guys done it?

my next questions is what can be used from a auto block? crank & rods? anything else?

crank and rods etc are all the same, it's just a case of drilling some holes...

Northamptonshire.

It is possible to do but its alot of work when you could get a manual 1275 block for fraction of the cost

and useable parts

Crank
Rods
Pistons
Cylinder Head
Cam
Rockers
Rocker cover
Rad

stuff can't use
Gear box
Side covers
Torque converter
engine mounts

Maybe useable
Block
Front sub frame...

slightly different drillings for a few things, but essentially the same.

The crank and rods are differnt materials between a & A+, but you can still use them.

A series where a harder grade of steel than A+, probably why the turbos often got a hardened crank.

Im using an "auto crank" in mine, and its been fine. I would of thought an auto crank would of had one of the easiest lifes compared a manual, at least its not been revved at all.

I have a late A+ 1275 Auto block sitting in my garage right now and have been looking at this whole conversion thing pretty carefully.

The biggest problem with later blocks is that the machining work in the region of the oil filter housing is not complete. This means that the oil gallery from filter housing back up to the gallery running across the front of the block is missing. It looks to me as if this would be difficult to machine.

One alternative that I have in mind is to use a remote filter housing and then take oil externally into what is normally a gallery blanking plug just below the water pump.

I am away from home right now and so cannot back this up with pictures, can get some posted later in the week if interested.
