Hi gents

Ive got a rh tank which has a coating of surface rust on the inside. Can it be saved? If so anyone any ideas of how to get the rust off/out? Anyone used any chemical treatments?
Thanks
Andy

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Half a pound of nails and paraffin shaken not stirred. Then flush with paraffin and finally petrol

Also if you look on eBay you can get a 2 pack sealing paint you swish around in the tank mainly for motorbikes this seals it compleatley gives a nice coat on the inside.

Don't forget to remove the sender mechanism. Andfuel strainer

Not all fuel tank sealants are resistant to ethanol, so be careful here.

I am prejudiced against them because I believe that they will allow fuel to seep under the lining at both the entry and exit points from the tank.

we have had trouble with the frost stuff it dosent seem to be that resistant to ethanol there are some others that are better but i would try other stuff before coating.

Im in the process of trying to sort it out with the seller at the moment, but if I do end up keeping it thewn i dont think i will seal the tank and i think the only reason its rusty is because its sat unused since the 70's!

Will let you know how it goes. Vinegar has got to be the first cheapest option before paraffin and nails and failing that then the Frost stripper will be the final resort!

Thanks for all the help
Andy

Use small link chain instead of nails, no chance of leaving any behind when you empty it out then.
