Hi, My name is Edward :) my plan is to build a Turbo A-series engine for my Morris Minor, yes i know it's not the same as the mini and I am using a Morris engine but I thought I'd be able to seek help from you guys as they're essentially the same.

My first stupid question: Are the turbo & the exhaust manifold the same?

Looking at that I don't understand how you could connect it or use as well

Any help appreciated,

Thanks :)

That's a T2 on a Metro manifold with a home made elbow attached to the turbine.

It will be pretty easy to make a new albow with the flange you have there.

A number of folk on here have turboed in-line motors (midgets and an A35) so it wil all go.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

If I understand correctly, no, you need a turbo manifold for a turbo.

So to do this I would use the manifold already attached to the turbo and the pipe coming off it would connect to the rest of the exhaust?

Thanks

That's correct yep :)
Nothing is a stupid question if you need to ask it. Otherwise, you really will look stupid when you cock it up and have to ask afterwards. That's how i see it anyway.
Good luck with the build!

Yes, basically you need the entire metro turbo setup and bolt it on. The make an exhaust to fit.

There is a little more to it than that, but that answers you question.

It's currently fairly standard, although I have these wheels to put on when arch extensions come on Thursday but also need slightly longer wheel studs, the wheels are 8jx13's

Nowhere near immaculate but I wanna go fast (er)

I'm thinking I might build the rest of the engine how I want it and take it to a garage or somewhere to get the turbo unit put in as it still baffles me :)

To simplify.

The exhaust ports from the head must come together and enter the turbocharger.
They then exit the turbo and out to the rear of the car as normal.

There are many ways to achieve this, at various costs.

Does this help? Turbo on a metro turbo manifold, with the exhaust downpipe attached,

then as they are oil cooled, you need an oil feed:

And an oil drain

We can help you on the above when it comes to it, pop over to Steve's, once you see an engine on the bench it will all become clear
