Hi.
I have some catching up to do 6825 posts
*surprised*

I'm playing with my flowbench and I wonder if anybody else has a bench and would post what they get abouts for 12g 940 heads ? Mostly to get an idea what people are getting as see if my measurements are weird of about okeyisch. I“still getting a hang of the practical stuff and have to finish-mod a few things for quick recalibration, easier moving form cylinder to cylinder etc etc

I use a flowquik with a two motor speed controlled vacuum motor box. It will pull about 30 inch depression on a bare port (Guide blanked and manifold attached).

cheers

I think i have seen something on the flowbench forum come to think of it.. his bench is gagantuan compared to mine ( and way cool).. I can take mine apart in three minutes and stick in it a cupboard though :)
I get ~118 cfm@28' and 111 @25' on a ms manyfold

I'm trying to do a series of step by step tests so you can figure out what seems to do what.

So far the figures published in the mini expert are about the only ones available of incremental gains.

The flow numbers in the Vizard book are actually very scarse, and the numbers of Graham Russel (http://www.minimania.com/ArticleV.cfm?DisplayID=1882) puts up make sense at first and then seem to hop into the rabbit hole.. 146 CFM for a modified head is IMHO just a very happy flowbench.

Then there is this bit http://www.starchak.ca/tech/8-port.htm

together with the numbers put up here that sums up the total amount of publicly available flowdata for the a series

If you want something done properly you have to do it yourself .

so I made a simple blog to have a place to put it.

I'll be testing ( as time allows) port/valve/ seat/ head/ manifold/carb combos for the a series. And maybe 8V and 16v BMW heads as well (don't hold your breath though). The blog itself (disregard the blabber. it needs a lot of work to make more sense) has so far generated massive traffic (as much as 1 per week !) hint hint.

click below..

I'd like to do a modification series on both a small bore head and a big bore head but I have run out of untouched heads :( so i'll just do a series on those for now.

If anyone in the neighbourhood has a small bore head (pref 12g202) that he/she would be willing to part with for a considerable amount of time to serve as a test bunny.
