Hello boys and girls *happy*

I bring more questions about my silly engine build.

iBought one of these fans:

http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/...k%20to%20search

Lovley.

Went to fit it and this is the case:

So put some longer bolts and 2 washers on each and its like this:

What am I doing wrong? My housemates got the same fan and it fit with just using the spacer?

Is it okay to put a third washer in? Seems a bit silly to me :/

Cheers

Craig

From Sheffield now live in York tha noz

Looking at it, you would be better off with a flattened breather

Old trick is smash the breather on the timing cover flat.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Take the fan off, and take the hammer to the breather. Simple!

Hit it as hard as is necessary to clear the fan, don't go paling the crap out of it straight away lol.
Put something behind it if you can for a bit of support.

Betwix Harrogate and York

Bin the shit heavy metal fan and put a plastic one one.

The metal blades have no shape to them, and don't move anywhere near as much air as the plastic ones with a proper blade design.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

I have the same issue Craigie, if you put a spacer you need to modify your top radiator bracket, and is a pain in the ass to fit the radiator with the spaver in the fan!!!
I modify my timing cover, but for that you need a new gasket...

Don't you mean zapps an extra 5 BHP away from the engine.

I always got told get rid of the metal fan and you gained BHP

(I have a 4 blade metal one again ;])

Northamptonshire.

P.s when I brought my mini My spacer was between the waterpump and the water pump pully so it cleared it that little bit more not sure if this was wrong.

ahh okay, well it fits teh engine so far I will try hold the rad against it tomorrow and see how it is, if it catches then I may have to chop the breather. The top bracket I was using is from a 998 so will need modifying anyway :)

I've never had fan clearance problems as I use the larger spacer in the link below
