All depends on various conditions mate. There is no definitive answer, Although not a lot if any should be used with those pistons truth be told, I don't really think they're up to the job. Edited by Carlzilla on 5th Jul, 2012. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

21251 is the low comp heposhite piston. Not suitable for turbo IMHO. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

Why when he has the pick of the a-series range would he go for that piston? Edited by minimole23 on 7th Jul, 2012. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

Possibly because he owns a nova? On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

Possibly because he owns a nova? It's my Nova, and it's a race car; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knGHIcjVDGI Thanks to Fraser (5portsrock) for posting up the question on my behalf. I didn't choose the pistons that were used in the car, the chap who built it originally used them, and it was 10 years or more ago now. I don't know what led him to these particular ones, other than they were the right bore size for his needs (and they were cheap). The Nova has used these pistons for all this time with no problems, at 1.5bar of boost. But I'd like to increase the boost levels soon, along with some steel rods for more revs. I was hoping to find a direct replacement forged-type piston, and avoid doing any machining work in the block. But from what Fraser has been able to ascertain, there is only an overbored option available at 0.020"; http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalogue...istons-020-18cc If anyone knows any different, please let us know! Thanks. ps - the engine has to run at 999cc or below, due to the Class regulations for hillclimbs and sprints. With the 70.61mm piston it works out at 985cc. Edited by novarally on 7th Jul, 2012. |

Scratch what I said, did not realise you were still standard bore.

Fair enough, at least it's not one of the usual bodykitted up pos that you see on the road.
