recently got the engine in the car and running
firstly i have no history of the engine other than it came out of a written off mini turbo
it is really slow to build pressure from hot or cold if you leave it for 10 mins but then holds 30 at idle and 60 at anything over when hot when it eventually gets there (15 seconds to get there )
cooler pipe removed from the block and crank it over and nothing happens for ages , not even the slightest bit of pressure so must be draining back to the sump
im going to replace the pump first but after reading lots of old threads i cant make up my mind on where is the best place to get a new reliable one from ????

thoughts and suggestions please

engine had been standing in the garage for 12 month but fired it up to get it warm and then dropped the oil , came out nice and clean
it did have a bit of a prob with the oil pressure reg but eventually got it out and replaced it with a used one i had in another block
but still the slow pressure build remains

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

In short, my moneys. On then engines goosed and the mains and. Big ends are so!
Requires a rebuild, new pump shells maybe a crank regrind etc..... if it doesn't. Smoke you may be lucky the rings and bores may just have survived.

Hopefully it's just the oil pump/gasket fubbard.
Got my turbo oil pump from minispares Rob, was about £30 iirc and flows far more oil than std although most people have proven the std one to be up to the job. Drop me a PM if you go to minispares for one.

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper
