Sheffield

They usually retard the timing to allow full throttle without revving straight to the limiter. Sometimes 50-60 deg but variable obviously..

Its based on the WRC 'Rocket' system and is hence a 'proper' hardware implementation of Anti Lag as opposed to just mapping changes.

This link has a little more discussion / speculation about the car:

I know these systems have been used in WRC for a good few years but it seems all the more impressive in a privately owned 'regular' road car.

How effective are the 'software' based systems, i.e. how much boost could be delivered at tickover with an otherwise normally running installation?

at idle i doubt much at all, mine starts to build boost on 'antilag' from about 1500 upwards but needs a very aggressive setting, at 3500 i can have almost any boost i want in about a second on quite a tame setting but its still extremely hard on the turbo and useless to launch on...
i dont use lift off antilag but have tryed flat shifting (works about the same ish) and i is way too aggressive to the point where i have taken the sensor of so i cant use flat shift if i tryed

tbh i have found the way my turbo spools i dont need any of it, just a hard set off with a few revs sees it straight into boost

Brett how does your flat shift work? Have you got a switch on the clutch pedal or something?

i set up a slide resistor on the clutch plunger with 0 + 5v either end( might have been 12v) and fed the output into a voltage comparator circuit, had that comparing against a variable resistor of the same set up, this outputs an earth onto the launch pin on megasquirt
basically once the clutch plunger had past a set point ( dialled in on the second variable resistor) the flatshift mode goes active
i tryed the switch method and failed getting the switch in exactly the right place is not easy this way you can sit with the clutch at bite point and turn the vr untill the flatshift mode just comes in and is about right

i never took any pics of it im afraid as it was just bodged together wasnt very neat and didnt work too well..

I was thinking of just using a brake light switch on the clutch pedal and an on off switch on the dash to enable/disable it.

The switch does work but getting it in the right place is the key to smoothness i still think its a little hard on gears well everything really i may try it a gain at some point but spending time setting it up / working out the rpm drops in each gear
