Hi,
I have a kit car with a mid mounted turbo A series.
This transmission noise originally was confined to going round left handed corners so the usual suspects was investigated - oil pressure, diff, driveshaft joints/couplings.
All seems fine.
Now the problem has escalated and is not only happening in all gears round left handers (under load only) but also in 3rd gear. Changing up into 3rd or down into 3rd has a horrible ratting noise which increases with throttle
I can go from 2nd to 4th and vice versa no problem
Any ideas before I rip it apart?

Many thanks

pulll out the oil and see if it has twinkly bits in before you run the engine again ? then poss ,teeth gone, layshaft bearings collapsed etc ?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

Not sure if the 3rd gera thing is a red herring, but sounds like diff to me.

Davrian Mk8 if I remember correctly.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Hi Wil_h
Yes correct it is a Davrian
Its not the diff itself as this was my first suspect and I put a new X-pin one in which it needed anyway
Sounds more idler gear?
Maybe in 3rd the linkage is touching something??
I'll have a good look at the oil for sure but I would really like to know what to look for before I remove it
