Sometimes my descriptions are exactly great, so to clarify, im talking about the shaft from the camshaft to to bottom of the distributor. |

The radiator lower mount bolt is the perfect tool for getting it out, its as if BMC did it on purpose http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.p...tid=469104&fr=0 |

5/16-24 long bolt screws in to the distributor shaft. When the distributor housings like for example 12A1136 is installed, the bottom edge of the housing barrel should almost, but not quite, touch the top of the shaft. If there is too much space between the bottom of the housing and the shaft, then the shaft can (and will) wobble around as the cam is accelerated/decelerated by the valve springs (within the timing chain slack) and this wobble is seen as timing jitter. Machine the underside of the housing mounting flange to take up the slack. Edited by scooperman on 17th Jul, 2012. |

I tend to use one of the rad-bracket bolts. Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |
