personally not a fan . quite a bit of bottom end loss without any worthwhile gains on say a sw5 . idle is poor as well . on a 1380 it would be less. id say buy an Re13ot or a. sw 5 imho

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

I have a 276 in mine and every time it goes on the rollers he tells me I could do better if I changed the cam. Just never got round to it

I always liked mine with the 286 Kent cam although a mate had the piper 285-2 in his and it was always a bit sweeter. That is a good few years ago now though- no doubt there are better cams on the market now.

N/a I would go 286 not 276.I ran that setup and made 120bhp at flywheel. It idled and drove fine.

I would just say that, the 276 is a little smoother then the 286, so it just depends on what your after, all out power or a little smoother driving.

Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph
First 5 port miniturbo to make over 200 bhp on a carb?
First 5 port miniturbo to make over 200 bhp on Injection?

For me, the VERY slight gain in idle and drivability to the 286 was never worth the loss of grunt compared to the 286.
One of the worse compromise cams - makes neither great power or has an idle that can be termed 'smooth'

I use a 276 in my 1300, but i did have one in my 1380 when it was running. Had a final figure of 73hp and a good torque curve which peaked at about 3500rpm. It did pull pretty well thou, Scanned image of the graph below (sorry about bad quality)

What about in a 998 or 1098 ?

I remember Vizard used one for his 998 build in the engine examples pages at the end of the yellow book.

Same applies but worse . In a 998 i'd stick in a sw5 (or equivalent isch like a BP 255) with a halfway proper head it will rev to 6500 and and gain bottom end and top end or fit a formula jr cam and a short fd and scream the nuts off it (na of course I have no hands on experience with turbos..yet). With the latter you need a good cylinderhead to make it work.
