Does any one have any experience of the epoxy resins which claim to be on par with welding as I need to repair a bit of cast iron.

Cheers

Yes, i once tried it on a cast exhaust manifold, The place i used to work had some special chemical expoxy metal which we used to repair engine blocks in emergencies. It looked great but 30 minutes later it was like a smoke grenade has been let off under the bonnet as the metal strted to burn.

I only did this as the cast manifold was unavailable in the uk (crappy diahatsu), and i went for a temporary fix. It turned out to be very very temporary.

If your not using it for high temperature you should be ok, dependant on the quality. you tend to get cheap ebay epoxy which is pants.

Hope this helps.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Belzona, will take heat mass, but not on exhausted manifolds or turbos, onto downpipes, other than that super to get you away! Ben

what do you need to fix,

I have some stuff that will stand high temps (2000 deg c alledgedly), but is probably not particuarly strong structrully, its the same stuff they use to stick the tiles to the space shuttle.

its been plugging up my push rod holes in the exhaust ports for a year now....

Repaired lose thermostat stud hole that was weeping. stuff it in and re-tapped it. Still holding after several years. Also fixed a Landy front axle case that had a split in and my welding was shit so it dripped oil. Took the oil out and cleaned the area with brake cleaner and it stuck like shit to a blanket. Fixed the leak as well
