Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a Group A Head Gasket?

I've tried all the usual places but still having no joy. Any ideas??

Cheers

Speak to Phil, I think he has the entire world stock, If he will sell one it will rightly be very very expensive.

Wicked, thanks for the heads up

I've dropped them an email, just gotta hope they have got stock. If not it looks like I might have to scrap a freshly re-built block

All is not lost, if you cannot source a group a gasket contact Mike Tanski at Ferriday Engineering and see if he can help.

I also have an engine machined for the group A gasket, I do have a spare on the shelf also and reading this I'm glad I have.

The block is machined to accept the group a gasket, which has a much deeper fire ring.

No, wrong, the cometic will not have the double depth fire ring needed for the group A block.
I know you are only trying to help but please make sure you know 100% the situation before potentially having someone waste £70 on a gasket that isn't suited.

Do you think Cometic would make one to suit?

Phils had no luck yet in persuading the firms mentioned above to make some.

make a wire ring ,to fill the groove ,then use a normal gasket?

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

How deep are the rings in the block? Would it be possible to get the block skimmed to eliminate them and use some short pistons? Or machine the pistons as well so their flush?

I think like Robert (sometimes) and I reckon a copper wire ring of the right size would do the job - and it wouldn,t cost much to find out.

Stolen from turbo-mini.com *happy*

Ferriday already do a copper fire ring for the a series. I'm not sure if that groove is just a plain parallel cut or if there is an angle to it, but if it is just a straight cut, it be tempted to dry deck it and just use the copper fire ring on its own

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Surely the block could be skimmed to accept a normal gasket? If you wanted that is.

it could. but you'd need to skim the pistons too,

Centred on each bore centre -

Fire ring recess OD in block top - 3.060"
Fire ring recess depth in block top - 0.027-0.029"
