Hi, I have a pretty much standard metro turbo setup in my mini apart from the metro turbo dizzy, all I have is the standard metro dizzy, the old man had a fiddle with my timin yesterday and got it idling abit better than it used to, but all I wanted to know is if anyone could help me out with how many degrees adv/retard I should have it set at, I'm pretty sure dad retarded it, so any advice would e much appreciated.
Thanks

Low boosting for now.

Ahh excellent thanks people, will have a crack at it today!
I would very much like to get hold of a megajolt system one day, what are they like to set up? That's the only thing that puts me off! :(

Low boosting for now.

i'd have thought that a standard dizzy would have far too much cetrifugal advance for a turbo engine?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Megajolt is pretty simple to set up, there are plenty of guide on here and on the autosportlabs website.

Even I managed to get it working.. *tongue*

Ohh fair play! And the dizzy that I've got is just an electric metro dizzy... Seems to work fine to be honest

Metro turbo dizzy centrifugal advance at 5000rpm is 18 to 22 degrees, Metro dizzy centrifugal advance is 24 to 28 degrees.

Add the quoted initial advance of 7 degrees (not the 6 people suggest above, and total advance with the Turbo dizzy is 25 to 29 degrees and for the Standard dizzy 31 to 35 degrees.

It might seem ok but i'd be very cautious. If you have a decent intercooler and don't run any more than 7psi, you might get away with it.

As above,

if you have a timing light, set the timing at 5k with the vac advance disconnected.

So ideally the best bet would be to get hold of a metro turbo dizzy? I've found a company on eBay that sells distributors for "metro turbo" I messaged him to clarify it would be okay for this set up and he said it will be fine here's a link, not sure weather to buy or not :/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-Metro-Turbo-E...=item19c69ebb3d

To be honest, if you're looking at spending £80 on a dizzy, then you might as well bite the bullet and save for MJ.

I was intending to do the same as you, stick with a dizzy, but megajolt really is the best bit of kit I've got, it transformed even my NA 998, and is so adaptable that once you have it, you will be able to do whatever you like to the engine and still have perfect ignition timing.

I got all my MJ stuff for £200, plus £10 for a group rolling road day and a bit of a tune.

Plus it means you can use the space the dizzy would have taken up for a bigger intercooler, and more power *wink*

yeah, ever use what you have, set it up at max rpm and accept it may be off at idle or bite the bullet and go MJ, (HE he! schamone)

Megajolt it is then! I know there's different types like tps and map?? Just wondered which would be the better bet? I'll definately make MJ my next goal in this case.

tps for NA with hot cams, MAP for turbo and docile road engines.
