so it seems my filter at the moment is in the way of my radiator and not cooling the engine properly, so on longer drives it over heats...

any suggestions, was told today that orange silicon air piping for brakes was not alright..

my inlet manifold is 57mm and the air filter is 63mm

any suggestions..

have looked on threads and have seen silicon blue hoses used at carrying angles to get the right placement...

here are some pics

thanks

I doubt that the position of the air filter will cause the engine to overheat. It could be better placed though at the front of the engine.

Plenty of people have used the flexible hose that you mension without problem.

I would say that fitting an intercooler would be a more immediate requirement.

there is an oil cooler i believe next to the radiator...will take a pic and update, and fitting an intercooler would be the best solution then?

so i will do some research on flexible hoses...

cheers mate

have a good look at some of the other build threads for ideas. I've been doing justy that to find a suitable way to route the air filter ducting from the front of the engine bay.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

I have said it many times

An intercooler is not the icing on the cake

ITS MORE! CAKE

If you car is overheating then either it has a heating problem or a cooling problem. Sounds to me like your rad is not up to the job. Is it a standard radiator? If so consider a minispares two core or similar that should be up to the job. Mind you it could be a lot of things, like water pump, ignition timing, etc. What it won't be is the position of the air filter.

The fan is too far from the rad!!!

Refit the top bracket then if you still have issues start looking at thermostat, 2 core rad, 4 blade fan timing and fueling.

I have a 70mm intake hose, you may have to modify your engine steady but it all should fit in there.

Is there not a fair bit of evidence to suggest over a certain speed, the fan is pointless?

Agreed, lower speeds and town driving the rad position isn't good.

Agreed that a minispares or similar rad is a good upgrade on a performance motor

thanks for all the replies... and i agree the fan is way to far from the radiator but it seems that the air filter placement and oil cooler are in the way to push back the radiator over the fan blades, so im assuming that this is either an install problem...
just don't know if i have the expertise to determine what it is...
im getting pics 2m..
thanks again for the replies.
will looking into the radiator as i do have just have a standard one in now.

take your air filter and pipe off the turbo fit the top rad bracket back on the rad then try and work out a pipe route for the filter i had to crush mine slightly to get it all to fit
