Hey guys

been to help my mate work on his 1275 engine, its a 1987 Austin Metro engine 22,000 genuine miles before we tranfured it into the Mini he's gone 3000 miles on the engine in the mini and its started rattling we've changed the timing chain, water pump (needed doing) just wondering if anyone else has any ideas?

It rattles at from 3,500 - 3,700 rpm then stops :S odd if you ask me I think its the cam followers

your guys input could help alot more

thanks
Stephen

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

As Joe says quite possible, with low octain fuel and too much ignition. Advance

Can you identify, Where its coming from, and what sort of rattle?

A youTube video would help Stephen.

Chris Dillow had the same thing years ago with his standard 1000cc, that was ignition advance. I retarded it it a little by ear and it was gone and the car ran better too

I seriously doubt it!
