Cheap ones are fine. Expensive HDMI cables have been proven many times that they have very little benefit over cheap ones.

I had a cheap one on my DVD player. Quality was fine, but it failed after a couple of years. The one supplied with the TV is still spot on.

As above.

Don't go mad. I think the last one I bought was about £4 for a 2m one.

You can get them for £1 from eBay and the likes but I probably wouldn't bother with those.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

As it is digital it will either work or it won't. It does matter about lead quality with SCART leads, but that is because it is an analogue signal that can degrade but still work.

I recently bought one from Poundland to allow me to occasionally plug my laptop into the front HDMI port on my TV, and it works fine. It might not last years, but it is good enough.

we've just instructred an AV install at a clients office; recommendation from the installer was that the budget stuff would be fine as long as the distance wasn't too great - interestingly the same distance as Jimster suggested at 10m

The reasons to buy expensive HDMI leads, beyond physical strength, have all the same credibility as those to buy an electric supercharger for £19.99 off ebay.

yeah as above, its a digital signal so quality does not really suffer unless going long distances in which case a sheilded cable would be an idea, but even then i wouldnt expect there to be much in it.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

There are quality diferences: one DVI/HDMI cable caused my Mac Mini to display artifacts/glitches on my TV, when another (much thicker but also a lot longer) didn't. Don't spend thousands tho*wink*
