double grey pressure plate issue

I purchased a double grey pressure plate, striped the old grey off, fitted the new one, torqued it up and adjusted the throw out stop.

I then fired the engine up, and heard a loud scraping noise.

I noticed that with the slightest resting of my foot on the clutch pedal the noise went away.

Ahh a new release bearing needed, I thought.
(even though I checked it before it went back, and it felt good),.

So I purchased a new bearing, I then took off the cover plate to find that the new pressure plate was scored around the outer edges, with new score marks on the cover.

There was nothing in the cover loose flapping around or otherwise.

I then changed the bearing, stripped off the pressure plate to see if I could see anything askew, but found nothing.

I reassembled it, bolted it all back up, fired it up again, only for the same noise to happen again.

Am I missing something here? HELP suggestions please.....

Any engine mount to win or breather bolts replaced which could catch the clutch?

No bolts were changed, the only bolts that would (the two engine mount bolts) are too short to protrude into the inner face.

I see, that's why I asked because I did that and locked the engine up, some pictures would really help
