If you look at the wiring diagram for the std metro turbo it achieves this as standard anyway using a 5 pin changeover relay.
T%he way it gets round starting the car is that when you turn the key to "start" position it energises the fuel pump to get enough fuel pressure up in order to start the engine. The engine should then run on the fuel in the float chamber for the small amount of time until the oil pressure comes up.

The boring bloke who runs this place.

that's pretty clever. I wish VWs did that, as i killed my old 16v last year by the oil pump dying..

Mike,

On your megasquirt you can use the fuel pump output to acheive the same thing.

Thinking about it I'm not sure this is on the megajolt???

y the squirt can control the fuel pump, not sure if it can via oil pressure tho.

i'm thinking of adding an inertia switch, the engine 'could' still run after a crash with fuel still pissing everywhere.

Mike, i used the standard system like this from a metro turbo, and eveytime i went round a rounderbout too fast, the pump shut down and the oil pressure light came on. it used to piss me right off having to free wheel down the road until pump came on again.
comical at first! (my dad thought it would be a good safety feature... uhhh-no!

the paint master! *surprised*D
