Im in the middle of converting my brothers mini from an auto to manual and to get it running i need to sort out which dizzy to use??

the engine is out of a 1973 mini (998) and has the old style dizzy-the one that has a bush in the block to locate the dizzy and drive shaft!!

With the bush fitted and the "new" style drive shaft the dizzy isn't quite long enough as its not designed to run with the bush in place- ( its like a prick in a bucket without the bush)!*smiley*

is there any conversion kits available to allow me to use the "new" style dizzy, or am i gonna have to machine something up?

Is it also possible to use electronic ignition from a 1275 on a 998?

any help would be great as my brother is loosing faith that im ever gonna get his mini running!!*happy*

Really you're best off getting hold of a dizzy to suit the engine you have.

Probably could make up something to adapt between the two but I am sure someone will have an "A" dizzy kicking about for sale cheap.

The main reason i wanted to change it is because i need it to be reliable (as if anything goes wrong i'll be the one fixing it)!!

I dont want the hasel of having to adjust points up all the time so i thought electronic ignition would be easier if its possible.

If all goes tits up then i might have to ask you to search your garage.*smiley*
