afternoon all ,il be fitting a rear beam to my mini over the winter and will be using offset rear coilovers on the rear ,but ive been advised by others that for the front to fit ordinary shocks on the front as using coilovers on the front makes it very harsh is this right thanks in advance

Its not so much the harshness of the thing. I didnt notice it being overly harsh.

Any more so then having a solid mounted subframe anyway.

The issue is the length of the off the shelf coilover units not allowing the required travel of the front suspension.

It should only be harsh if you don't have the coilovers set-up correctly.

Most of this harshness stems from coilover kits being supplied with springs that are to stiff and meant for use on heavier cars or race cars.
