Hi guys, can megajolt/Edis easily be wired up to run 2 plugs per cylinder? I've got an 80 year old straight 8 that has 16 plugs, and no dissy, so thought the easiest thing to do is to MJ it, however I'm not sure about wiring 2 lots of coilpacks in.

I could probably just do one set of 8 as fakes as modern plugs are probably twice as good as the originals, a good idea but perhaps not necessary with todays sparks?!

No reason why you cant double up the coils, you may need extra ignitor chips though

Thats what I was wondering, so use 2 edis modules and split the feeds to them from MJ? Can't I just use 1 edis module and split the feeds to the coils in parallel instead, or would that mean the feed current wouldn't be high enough?

Not even installed the MJ on my mini yet so still new to it!

It's a '32 Nash Twin Ignition Straight 8.

might be better getting an ecu that can natively handle 16 plugs. I guess MJ will struggle with more than 8.

Lol yeah! Here's the engine next to an A series:

And rockers galore!!!

It's 2 per cylinder obviously the timing is exactly the same, so all I want to do is run plugs in parallel, just not sure on how to do it without halving the power of every spark.

As said earlier though, I might just mock up one side as I'm sure with modern plugs I don't need 2 per cylinder!

...infact I may be able to retro fit a V8 dissy to it (only reason for this whole topic is because I can't find a dissy for it) and mock up another one or split the HT leads to feed 2 each or something...

Money is always an object! To a degree, I prefer trying to build on a budget, I keep telling myself it's more satisfying! I think I'll start with using 1 set of plugs, and I can always modify it to fire on the 2nd set at a later date if need be.

I think you could run multimple edis units, but have one as the master. The MJ will only want to see one PIP, but send the SAW too all the EDIS units you have. I am not sure about the VR sensor though, I think you will need one for each EDIS.

Far better would be to have one edis (a 4 would do it) then take coil signal A & B to another board that fires the coils. This way you could have as many coils as you want. Don't ask me to design the board though, but how hard can it be????
