I put my head apart and this is an opportunity to go for a bigger valves. I have a turbo head with enlarged (to max) and polished ports but still with std. valves and inserts for unlead fuel.

On boards I found that a lot modified turbo heads have a std exhaust and bigger inlet valves.

I decided to go for bigger inlet valves too.

So, I need a suggestion which valves to put in? I got an offer from mini shop in neighbor country Austria for inlet valves 35,6mm (long stem) 12G940. Are they good?

What is your suggestion to go for?

Gregor

Hi Gregor!

I am using a 35,6 and a 31mm valve setup in my head. I was afraid of getting cracks in the casting between the valves. But this didn?t happen. Age of the head with this setup is now 6000km, and the car made 141hp on the rollers.

The next head I want to try is with 33mm inlet and 32mm exhaust valves. Has anyone experience with a similar head on this forum??

Harry

PS: Gregor, is it Berni or Michael where you buy the parts?

hi TurboHarry,

it was Berni. he gave me a price offer for asking parts, but some parts are more expenisve that it would cost me to get them from england. i would like to buy from him, becouse i live near austrian border and it would be easy to bring them to slovenia and to my croatian mini friends.

p.s. i saw your name on turbo forum on www.mini.co.at but i do not understand austrian language.

Hi Gregor!

I am customer from Berni for a lot of years now. Usually I get prices similar to England, somethimes even better. (I will give him a call!)

Regarding valves: I had a lot of wear on the 214N inlet valves this season with bronze guides. (Both not Minispares parts!) I think the hardened surface on the Minispares valves is a good idea - so I will give them a try this season! (also with Minispares bronze giudes)

Harry

PS: Gregor, maybe we will meet at an Austrian Mini Meeting next season??

Hi Turbo Harry,

thanks for your help. i heard about Berny only good words, so i believe that i will become his new customer. i do not like pushing for lower prices, but slovenian standard is much lower than european and i have to work for each part very hard.

gregor

ps: yes, i will come to austrian mini meeting!
