How do folks

The mini seems to have an oil leak from the pulley area. The gasket looks fine (they were torqued up evenly) so it looks like the oil might be coming from the seal in the timing cover where the crank goes through.

In order to redo it, can the crank pulley be removed in situ? I stripped it all down today and had a look but didn't fancy starting to take it even further apart with out asking?

I'm running the MED management pulley by the way so it might not be the same as a standard one

Cheers

No real reason why not. At worst you may need to remove the LH engine mount and steel bracket, but there is plenty of room for the pulley to come off.

I was looking at how thick the pulley is and looked at the space left with the rad out and thought 'no chance', I can see how it would come off with the engine mount off though.

I centrailsed the cover with the pulley on, and fitted a new seal so f*ck knows how it is leaking... there is also the oil thrower on the inside...

I have done it steve explains it spot in you might just be able to get away with un bolting the mount from the gearbox and jacking the engine slightly

The med pulley is bigger than std, you have to grind away the engine mount holder with a burr, undo the two bolts that hold the box onto the holder thing and jack one side of the engine up, its awkward but I've dine it loads of time.

Cheers guys, the bracket has already been modded so I can get the belt on without too much trouble. I'll try and undo it all and try again.

Any tips for the crank seal other than centralising it,

get the seal into the cover square and make sure it seals in the timing cover the rest should be ok, damper on before you nip the cover bolts up

I've just done this to fit a DSN alloy cover.
Needed to remove the rad and the rad bracket/engine mount and balance the engine on an axle stand.
