had a day at york raceway today for more fettling,

i had 3 runs all day that counted,
i have just fitted a new maximiser proggressive controler to the rear engine so i can set up both nitrous systems independantly.
run1, launched very well at 1.69 60 ft but made an arse of the hook for top so practically aborted. et of 14.5 ouch!!!.

run 2 softened off the setting on both engines as i thought i got a little too much wheelspin on run 1 despite the good 60ft ,this time i didn't feel the kick in the pants at launch ,but once moving and into top really picked up ,went through the 1/8th at 97.99 mph in 7.48secs and accross the line in 11.5 at 116 mph ,so thats the quickest iv'e ever been so far , a bit dissapointed at the terminal but i waqs pulling exactly 8k .

on the return to the pits i find i have a puncture ,so proceed to fit a pair onf 13" wheels and tyres to the rear [ soft slicks] but find i only had one centre lock nut to suit the wheel type , so had to use only one with a 10"on the other side , they were not far out in cercunferance so thought i'd give it a go .
run3 brought the nitrous setting back to a more aggressive set on both engines and give it a go ,
launched very well again with a 1.7 sec dead 60ft , but got all out of shape just before the 1/8th and had a lift off the loud pedal, gather it together and pedeled it once more , a scary ride i must say but i had to try make it count,
and it did , over the line in 11.4 but with a lower terminal of 111mph due to the lift. but very importantly i hit the 1/8th in a new best if 7.2 secs, almost .25 secs quicker than previously .
so its easy to work out ha di had the best of both runs i ,in theory could have seen an 11.1, ooooooooooooh next time eh!!!,

i offer no excuses ,if i had not have experimented with the nitrous setting i may well have been a little bit nearer the goal..
and the air box on the rear engine appears to working ok and not costing me power.

i only ha d3 runs as you cannot run tjis typse of car round and round all day lol.

At the moment i have 50hp of gas on each engine ,but i am still running rich with a fair bit of retard in there to stay on the safe side ,in all honesty i have too much retard for the amount of gas at the mo but find it a bind altering it all the time so just leave it at the one setting .
i am going to have a good look at the systems today and check exactly what fuel jets i have in there and maybe make some changes to the mixture and will up the gas also , got to move forward.l

I am sure the man himself will elaborate but I would guess it is a touch highly strung and gets stroppy very quickly if it gets too hot etc...?

What sort of times were you aiming for when you built the car, Carl? And are you getting close to that target?

Also, just for a comparison, what was the best time you ever ran with the single engine?

Seem to recall that the best time Carl ran with a single engine was 11.7
Believe that he was running larger volumes of nitrous through that though.
Think that once he is happy with both engines and gets consistancy then the times will start to fall even further.
In the 10s is likely and even quicker is possible.

aye like i say, i am genuinely curious as to why only 3 runs, afterall the car appears to get beter after every run, so finding som eway to fit more runs in would be of benefit, jstu wondering whats limiting.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Evolution ,its a bit like tom says ,with all the post a nd pre run checks to make ,plus fluid fills ,its a pain to drive so you have to get yourself mentally prepped too, and then you can only run when its your turn usually ,but i can sometimes swing it up here at york,
ben 11.7 was my previous best , but with deminishing gains it gets harder to go faster .
hey and slow carl ,if you like it so much you can come along anytime and clean it if you like , a proper job mind ,no slapdash,lol
Dave the tyres just needs a patch on thre inside ,i'm just a little pissed as if i had not picked up the puncture i'd be knocking on the door of the 10's.
