Despite the quack telling me to sit down and do bugger all for the next three weeks I have been putting a little time in in the workshop. One 1275 engine went out yesterday, back to Bristol, and the next one, a 1098, is now on the bench. Also managed to weld up and paint a wing for another club member.

Washed the KTM from three weeks ago, but I cant kickstart it yet with injury on that leg.

Drove for the first time in over three weeks yesterday and then took TMT out to re -adjust boost levels after pissing about with bleed valve pipework.

Now sits at 15 psi, rock steady on full throttle and 13:1 AFR. I can tweak the mixture a bit for Avon in a fortnight, or use Roberts choke technique to get it a little richer, if needed.

It did feel good, all the way up the gears yesterday, after so long away from it !

Van project is still stalled which is a shame as the weather has been so good the last few weeks , for spraying.

Good to hear you're nearly back to full health.

Will you be going to Kop hill in a few weeks?

Kop Hill on the Sunday for sure Matt.

Thanks for all your kind comments - I expect to see a few of you at Avon to cheer on Steve and the Midget.

Car ran to Avon and back really well, but I did not race because 1) the queues were unbelievable and 2) it seems Avon now require a fire extinguisher as well as a crash helmet ?

Went to Goodwood on the Sunday and had a great day out, met Murray Walker and a few others but was tempted to overtake a Ferrari on the M3 and held full boost and WOT until I did (at somewhere around 30mph more than I should if you take my meaning) and its now smoking so I reckon I have done a piston -or rings.

Will do my best to fix for the hillclimb on Sunday but I have had to bail on the RR day I had arranged for Friday with Craigie B.

WOT for about a mile, but it was worth it to see the Ferrari drivers face.

I was privileged to sit in the cockpit of one of the Memorial Flight Spitfires at Goodwood, by invitation of the pilot.

If you are not pre-entered Matty, you wont get on the hill - and entries closed months ago.

Thats a pisser, but by the sounds of it worth it!

I thought about your a35 the other day, when I saw an A35 pickup at a show, It looked pretty cool as well and was crying out to be turbo'd!

No skill involved Andy, other than pedal to the metal.

Replaced No3 piston with a "new" one and all is well again (I hope, as it will be WOT again tomorrow at the Kop Hill hillclimb)

Seems to be leaking even more oil now, so yet another engine change looms.

May have to use the engine set aside for the van as that seems to be going nowhere fast.

Good luck for tomorrow. That was a snappy piston change, what did the removed piston look like?

Piston only slightly scuffed, but one broken ring (det ?)

I think the extra oil leaks were all down to increased blow by.

Head and sump come off an A35 easily as there is no cross member beneath the engine.

I will be at Kop Hill whatever the weather - and it promises to be less than good.
