Hi there,

i am doing a t2 turbo project and am looking for an exhaust system?, was just planning to have it custom made as i'm fitting a centre exit twin exhaust (jap style), but think it would be really loud, and possibly more expensive, what systems are you lot all using? any that will fit directly and allow a centre exit to be fitted?
want a nice sound from the exhaust but abit more on the stealthy style.
(plus dont want to drown out the dump-valve!)
cheers,

ian

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

turbo's are fairly quiet anyway. any single box system will do, the bigger the better. maniflow are a good system and do centre exit as do many others such as playmini etc.

you want a 2" system

Personally i wouldnt have thought that a custom made exhaust would be that expensive. if you've got a downpipe sorted and the backbox in place you only need a plain link pipe making up.

Yep, turbo exhausts are certinally quiet. I 'custom made mine from lengths of pipe and a selection of curves bought from tweekies. Mine exict throught the rear valance.

The silincer I have is tiny, and you still can't hear the exhaust over the noise of the whining gearbox.

i have the mirage downpipe at home, not sure of the diameter of that?
the inlet for the exhaust is 2/14 inches

i just thought if i had a custom pipe made up it would be straight through and be really loud, or would the exhaust fitters be able to fit a silencer?

cheers,

i'm running a single box 2" system on and its really quiet. was running a straight pipe to a carbon motorbike can before that and that was really quiet aswell.
as wil says you cant hear anything over the gearbox whine *happy*

exhaust fitters should be more than up to the job of fitting a silencer.

just fit a straight through pipe to a central backbox. that will be more than enough silencing for it.

ahh cool, i just presumed it'd be really loud, as my 998 at the moment has a powerflow straight through exhaust and is pretty horrifically loud.
do you have straight cut gearboxes or do they just whine anyway.
Even though I'm doing this project, have never had any experience in a turbo min!

Mine is certinally straight cut, so are the drop gears (which are especially noisy).

Basically the turbo its self acts as a silencer, so it's not to hard to keep them quiet.

I seem to remember Jim didn't even have a scielencer last year.

The Maniflow downpipe will mate to the T2 elbow, but you will need to cut and re-weld the downpipe to clear the subframe and pot joint.
