Morning All,

Don't usually like to ask questions like this but here goes. As above, has anyone bought a built straight cut gearbox, cross pin diff, drop gears etc off the shelf recently?

Having done lots of research on previous posts half the people I was looking at going to are best avoided. I understand Mini Spares seem to do the best gear kits but unforunately they don't sell complete boxes and buying the parts for someone to build just isn't financially viable.

The two options I am looking at are Mini Speed or Mini Sport.

Any advice / suggestions very welcome. I don't have time to attempt building it myself at the moment either.

Thanks

James

If you have the ability to do usual mechanical work on a Mini then you can build it yourself. They really arent difficult at all, just do exactly what the Haynes manual says

I seriously doubt it!

I don't ever remember hearing good things about minispeed or minisport. That doesn't mean that the box they supply won't work, but I don't remember people praising their customer services when they have had a problem.

I couldn't find anything bad or good....lol. I have never used Mini Speed. Mini Sport...well it's Mini Sport, I use them for small things and don't have any problems.

If it really isn't too bad a job Im tempted in building it myself, at least I could use the minispares clubman kit then.....hmmm. Just not sure how long it would take me to do, time to pull out the Haynes and have a look.

I've built a few boxes. Its not difficult, just a little time consuming. Easily done in a day if you have everything infront of you.

Steve BENROSS would probably build you one too using the minispares kit.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

As long as u avoid mra as ull pay for it, do most of the work, then theyll not let u have it. And after all that sell it to someone else.

Been thinking about the same thing.

Self build
Benross
Med

Ms north is a new one

Most intrested in backup if it goes wrong.

Also ref cost it seemed a little over £200 extra if someone built it for you. Unles my mathis are wrong.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
