So Im trying to get my fuel pump to run while the engine runs from a switched output on the MJ, and its not working (a completly diff story)

So I figure as im using an old relay I found in my dads garage that it would be fair to assume that it would be a faulty relay!? Got another one from my dad garage plugged it all in correctly and checked it, went to put car on ign and heard a pop, WTF? Started the car - no fuel pressure :/ turned the car off using the brake pedal (another different story) went to try again to check if its running during the starter motor as it used to and I just get a "Click" - hang on wtf is happening!? Why is the starter not running?

Put the old relay I used before back in thinking it maybe the relay and I still get a Click.

Check the fuses - all fine
Put it on again "click" only when I hold it there I can hear the fuel pump running so there is power getting to it.
Put a perm live to the starter nothing at all

Is my luck really this bad?

Does it sound like I've blown the starter motor?

I've come inside as im within an inch of grabbing a hammer and beating the utter shite out of the car......

When I put the obligatory stage 1 kit on my first mini, I left the battery cable touching the exhaust. Only took about a mile for it to melt and do lots of fun things to my car...

Including melting the throttle cable about 40% open. Made the drive home interesting.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I'vee come close to jacking ont the battery cable! Kinda relised as I pumped the jack, although I was messing with the inertia solenoid yday without unpluging the battery and got a spark or two :/

Clicking starter solenoid is normally a sign of a flat battery

I'll second the 'hit it with a hammer' , but maybe try a rubber mallet. I've had starters jam, and it can free them up.

On the 'stupid garage stories', I had a fuel leak last week and nearly managed to burn the garage down by 'testing' the leak.........

actually scared myself to the point of rolling the car out of the garage without ramps.

:)

Also worth checking all earth points. A simple thing that can cause a myriad of problems.

I had that exact problem trying to get the starter on my kit car working. Remember the starter needs a really good earth or it wont work (in my experience anyway).
