Just in the process of mating the GT17 to my Matty manifold. Before I make a fatal error, can someone please confirm if this is correct. Are people using 3 studs (the top two and one of the bottom studs) fitted into the manifold itself, and then leaving one stud in the GT17 (the one that cannot be accessed from the back with a spanner for the nut)????? Are people then drilling out the unwanted threads in the opposing hole on the bottom of the manifold????

I know this may sound complicated but I am sure some mebers will understand.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

A bugger, this reminds me that I never got a pic for another thread! *blush*

You can do it that way, or you can take a notch out of the turbine housing, so you can get a nut on it. I'll get a picture tomorrow of mine.

I modified the turbine flange as matty suggests to alow a nut to be fitted.

Just too a bit of grinding.

Don't just use 3 fixings, it will blow.

I have done the same and ground out the housing a little to fit a nut in. there is plenty of meat to go at with an angel grinder.

Thanks guys. I am glad that I asked and will try taking the grinder to the exhaust housing.

Matty, photos would be great just to gauge how much meat you have taken away from the turbo,

Also, this obvioulsy means that the turbo stud hole threads must be drilled out?

Mattyc33 - I no longer have time to make them especially with the new arrival! I may do some more, when things settle down though.

Billus89 - yep the turbo is drilled out to 8.5mm

Thats fair enough matty, congratualtions on your new arrival!

Ive moddified my exhaust housing to fit the metro manifold for now, but I'd be interested in one if you made any more. :)
