Ever since I've been running my t3 standard setup I've had a slight blow on the exhaust manifold-turbo joint,
I inspected it and the mating surfaces on both sides appeared to be rather pitted with an uneven surface, managed to scrape back most of the carbon build up to make it a bit better.

Was just wondering if anyone has come across this and has any tips ideas on how I can stop it from leaking?

Cheers

Low boosting for now.

It's got a gasket i replaced when building thanks.
I was referring in terms of like maybe a fire putty I could use? Or a method of flattening off the mating surfaces

Low boosting for now.

Ive found ust firegum and no gasket works well, or making a gasket from copper.

if you have tightend it down enough the gasket should seal it, you could try some exhaust putty or sending the turbo and manifold to have both faces machined

Done now needs redoing lol

Okay cheers joe. My dad suggested maybe using some "quicksteel" to fill in the pits to bring it up to a neater level.? Could possibly work?

Even so, appreciate the ideas people :)

Have the surfaces machined flat. Job done, and not fucking about with stupid sealants which will never work.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Yes, get the surfaces machined and then use a new gasket......as good as new then.

I'll go down that route then and get it sorted for good rather than have to rip it off again in the next fortnight. Lol

Cheers guys!

Oki doke I'll look into that when I sort out my proper turbo head!
I had that issue to start off with when I used a "quality metro turbo gasket kit" which supplied a cardboard mani gasket, went and brought one of the perforated ones and worked fine :)

Sheffield South Yorkshire GB.

I used a file and, belt sander, then a fine smear of fire gum..

Edit. With a new gasket of coarse..

Also would this be the reason it's taking over 4000 rpm to get full boost?
