Australia oi oi oi!

Hi guys so been driving my car around a bit testing it out.

all seems well dyno tomorrow.

one problem, the cars brakes! after a while of driving the brakes got better & better..

im like wow! great!! as the car has been sitting for 1.5yrs... anyways got better and better!

then bang the car slowed down & down!! I could not work out what the heck was going on, but the brakes are holding on.

picture me on the side of the ride trying to push a car that wont move haha.

I have a rover booster set up, with the master cylinder in one.

i had to crack open a bleed nipple to release some pressure & it fixed the brakes?

for now?

any idea? what is wrong? it's holding pressure but why?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Check your brake pedal. As they don't move a lot, they can sieze up, especially if it hasn't been used recently.

Usually you can just remove pedal, clean it all up and put it back.

PITA job mind!

It's the actual pivot of the pedal where it seizes, there is a bronze bush in the pedal and they get all shitted up.

I guess you could open a bleed nipple, squirt in some thin oil on th pivot and give it a good few presses. But I think it will only be temporary.

A strip down and a good polish of the shaft and some lube in the bush should give good relief.

Sometimes the caliper cylinders, part seize when the brakes have not been used for along time, so that they don't release off the brake disks..

is it an after-market master cylinder like AP or similar? if so its not fully returning with the pedal released, and you either need to shorten the pushrod or space the master off the bulkhead by 10mm or so.

EDIT sorry just seen you say its the rover servo setup. in which case its ajusted wrong, or perhaps the wrong peddle? but most likely it just needs slackened off a bit.

As above I had to adjust my push rod on servo/master cylinder to get the right amount of play at the pedal..
