Oh dear.
Got a big fueling problem here I think. Pump is showing 4psi on the guage. With the plugs out, when I spin it over I get neat fuel shooting out the plug holes. Even I know this ain`t right.
Should I be looking at the needle float in the carb. It has been laid up for quite some time, and I am thinking it could be stuck open. any other thoughts would be welcome too.
God, it stinks of petrol round here.
Ta!

Sounds like you are on the right track. Try giving the carb a "tap" with a hammer to see if you can shock the needle valve into closing. If not you'll need to dismantle it.

If you can take the dashpot off then turn ignition on but dont turn it over it will be obvious if the valve your thinking about is stuck open

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Cheers for the help.
Took it off and opened it up. Gave the needle a good clean and a wiggle, and now its fine. Even the pressure gauge is reading correctly, so jobs a good-un.
Thought I would try and start it for the very first time.
Key in, choke out, bottom clenched, give it a go and after a couple of coughs, he fired up!!!!!!
Needs a lot of playing with now to get it anything near right, but KEVIN lives.
He`s alive at last. Nearly two years of work so far but the end is now in sight. Happy days
(note for diary, Kevs offical birthday is 21/09/12)
Thanks all

Agreed, leave naming cars to the beetle owners lol, that having been said I have called my car many names over the years, most of which are unrepeatable!

Typically I detest the car naming trend. However, I don't mind the code name trend, its a bit more techy.

For example

K1275RS *happy*

1293GTS *wink*

or even 1293GT2

Much better :)

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Names beginning with 'The' seem ok too, eg

The Sprint

The Speedster

The Don

The Twini

I seriously doubt it!

I agree with all the above these are all acceptable but not names that sound like they..

A. Should belong to a cow-eg Daisy, tinkerbell, buttercup ect

B. Should belong to the guy who runs the corner shop eg Ted, Harold, Arthur ect

Or any name that has hilarious irony such as a calling a cinquecento "the beast"

That's more of a theme than a name - i.e. a slightly fooked about with 1275GT *wink*

Oli - Can you come and talk to my wife about baby names please...

Assuming it's a boy, the middle name will be John, but not for the obvious reason...
