hi guys,

i am putting my mini shell on the scale now and have already cut out my rear wheel arches for tubbing.

next step is the installation of a carbon fibre boot floor from curley.

i tried test fitting it already but i think it needs a lot of trimming.

anybody on here who have done this before and can give me some tips on what and where to cut.

any pictures would be a great help as well...

Top tip: If you're trying to save weight leave the steel floor in !

Really? I'm surprised. I was planning on welding in a flat steel floor anyway but this gives me even more reason to do so.

Got any proof?

I think the main reasoning behind it "not saving weight" is that there is the on going debate whether additional strengthening is needed to make it rigid again/pass an mot.

Personally I think it would be fine if used with rear subby, but with a beam I can see that the rear end could become flimsy, especially as the turrets are now taking the full weight of the rear end.

After replacing the entire boot floor panel on my mk1, I was amased how much it ties everything together from the rear bulkheade back, and it made me think twice about touching the boot floor on my other mini as im using a beam on that.

I had no problems with the boot floor (after finding a non-shit MOT centre), it was my rear subframe hack that made me fail my MOT. Once the subframe was back to it's original strength, the boot floor (rivited ally) was no problem.

Any pictures of your boot Alex? I need to mount an alloy tank, pump and 2 filters in mine and a flat alloy boot will give me more useable floor than the traditional carbon one. Might be able to raise the exhaust up abit more as well :)

Ah, it was my old mini, not the current one.

I'll see if I can find a pic
