I had a look at my engine today, and noted that I had slipper skirt type pistons in there. It ran fine, when it was together, but I was also running the stock 5 or 6 pounds of boost. I plan on eventually running 15 pounds, though. Will a slipper skirt piston be a problem? Should I buy new, turbo-specific pistons?

I can't say to be honest, but all modern cars have got slipper pistons. All A+ engines did as well, APART from the turbo..

Theoreticly, the full skirt ones will be more stabile, but are they overkill??

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Yes, that's what I'm concerned with. Every turbo piston I've seen is non-slipper skirt, and I believe it's because of the greater pressures on the pistons. So, if they go out of round under high boost, that would be a problem! But you're right: Is it overkill?

No one knows?

Thanks for the tip, mini1071s! That's not a bad price, either! Do you have a link for them?

Thanks, Stuart. When I get the engine back from the machinist, I'll check the numbers. All I know is that they are 20 over, and I have a set of 30 overs and 40 overs. Don't know numbers on any of them... I'll see what I have.

Thanks for the link, mini1071s. I'll give them a look-see, and definitely consider buying if anything happens...
