hi all quick question. I have a fibreglass bonnet which is sitting proud in the middle at the front. Now if it was steel i know a knee would adjust it into place perfect but hey its fibreglass. My question is what can i do to adjust the centre of the bonnet back. Ive tried ratchet strapping it down but it just springs back. any ideas.

Cheers

Not a great deal to be honest, thats what you get with fiberglass bits.

Can you move the pins out slightly thus pulling the center down ?? , i dont think it will work but worth a try

depending on the resin used you can sometimes reform it with a heat gun, worth a shot if you have an offcut you can practice on.

The issue you have is that polyester resin is a thermo setting plastic.

But still maybe worth a bit of pesuation with a hear gun.

I don't think heat will make a sod of differeance.

The only real thing to do is cut an shut it, but this will be a pain.

Looking at it, being sneeky with the grill mounting will maybe be the easiest way to hide it.

The back of my bonnet has sagged due to heat from my manifold, so heat may well help reform it.

Like I say depends on the resin, other option is to cut a slit or two , pin the bonet lip to the correct line and then fill with fresh glass and resin.

think of it like warming and reshaping a easter egg with a hairdrier, a little heat nothing happens a little more and it starts moving a little more heat and the fecking think droops over your rocker cover..... heat can help though its risky trie it with the view your going to cut it and put a bulge in *wink*
