just an intro...

Im here looking for info on mini gearboxes, specifically repairs to them.

been fiddling with them for a while, but need info on a mates jack-knight.

it has a damaged layshaft and JKD want a ton of flesh for a new shaft, so I dont think he'll be interested in that.

I get the gist from reading that someone rebuilds and re-hardens mainshafts... who is it.

Hello and welcome.

The linkies of MED, switune etc all do a competition layshaft. Is yours the non standard size JKD one?

its a 5-speed, the shaft is splined and runs in bearings in the case - its not a standard layshaft.

the damage is at one end where the shaft ran in a bearing, it will need rebuilt, reground and re-hardened.
