Hi Guys,

I want to drastically improve my stopping power. I've got minisport alloy calipers up front, on 7.9 inch discs. The cars currently undergoing a full scale rebuild, so whilst this is going on i want to adress the brakes in which i never had much confidence.

What are the advantages of using a pedal box with a bias bar.. obviously you can control the bias.. but does the use of two master cylinders provide more power to the brakes. I've thought about buying the bias bar and building a bias box myself onto the original pedal, much like the KAD one.. but then i was thinking, would i not get much the same effect by using a big single master like a 0.750 then have it 'T'd front and rear, with a proportioning valve on the rear?

Your comments and advice?

Ta, Dan

IMO it all sems to depend what you want.Talking to most people its a had pedal that is right there, which gives you the most confidence, rather than more stopping power??

I achived this with a 1275GT RWC and a yellow tag MC that has double pistons so one rear and one front.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
VEMS + 12 PSI + Liquid Intercooler = Small Bore FUN!

I'm interested in this subject as I have always found the standard set up is a compromise between wet and dry braking

I've found (talking about front brakes)

1. std 8.4 discs work OK under normal dry conditions until they a pushed hard, where they then start to fade - under wet conditions they grab and lock up too early

2. Metro 4 pot and vented discs without servo tend to need quite a bit of pedal pressure to brake from high speed, I assume this is because they may be too cool - in the wet they are better than std 8.4 discs

3. Metro 4 pots with vented and servo - fantastic braking in the dry, but lethal in the wet - too much pedal pressure and they lock up too easily

No.3 is ideal if the peddle pressure can be more progressive, so that they work better in the wet

Can an aftermarket pedal box etc achieve this?

That's another thing I was going to consider, fitting a servo.. but I would have to try an fit it inside the car or something cos they're huuge!

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Servos do not effect braking performance, they just make it easier to press the pedal. Only any use if you are a girl!

Pad and disk choice will have more effect than anything else. What are you running?
