can the keys really shear off the offset crank washer? or are we talking on really high output engines?

Never had a problem personally? The flywheel locates onto the taper of the crank nose rather than the keyed washer anyhow so as long as its tight on the taper you should have no problem?

1450cc and i thrash the tit's of it, never had the flywheel even fret let alone shear off. :) Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. |

Maybe someone should suggest to KAD not to apply grease to the taper and only tighten the bolt up to 25lb ft?

But, with a better offset key, the toque applied to the flywheel will be momre "correct". All we do now is to deform the key.. Or at least some. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
