hi all im in the process of finishing my supercharged project and i have a few question, I'm using a stainless maniflow manifold and iv wrapped it in exhaust wrap from top to bottom. i was reading somewhere the over day that its not a good idea to wrap the whole manifold as the internal heat can cause the manifold to crack? is this true? sounds abit far out to me.
the other thing is that id like to do away with the mechanical fan. i currently using a kenlow electric fan on the other side of the rad, i have been advised that the one electric fan won't be enough on its own so is it possible to run 2 electric fans, one either side? engine side will be a little tight, or is this a waste of time should i just stick with the mechanical and electric.
cheers matt

I was talking to someone that cracked a manifold that he had wrapped so it could be a problem, but up to you.

I'd stick with mechanical and the electric.

Edit, screwed the quote up!

Most Stainless manifolds use 304 stainless. 304 is not really suitable for high temperature use, it looses the carbon which makes it brittle and susceptable to cracking.

I does however survive fairly well in most applications since as soon as the exhaust gasses have left the cylinder head, they are starting to cool down, rejecting heat as air circulates round the engine bay, as you drive along.

Add some wrap and the situation is different. The exhaust gasses don't loose anywhere near as much heat till further down the exhaust system, as the air circulating can't cool the manifold. This puts the 304 stainless in a critical working range.

It'll work for a while, but it will fail sooner rather than later.

By all means use it, but use it sparingly

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

ok so maybe i might just just do the top half of the manifold and just do one wrap rather than double wrap just to keep abit of heat off the supercharger.
sprocket- just like to say you built me a rts clutch i have just fitted it to my car and I'm impressed, not as heavy as i was expecting . its no more heavier than the heavy duty single spring clutch i had on an old set up.
