Guys,

I need some advice, somebody offered me a plenum, but I never saw this one before, can you help me out from which car it is and if it is usable for a Mini.

This is a plenum of a non-turbo Montego or Maestro. It's not suitable for use on a turbo engine as a direct replacement for the Metro type one.

It could be made to work, but it's lots of effort for no gain.

Ok, thanks for the info, in the meantime I found this picture, it looks like the same plenum used on a turbo engine, but modified:

Yep. It's my engine bay.

Basically, i did the mods that Wil talked about above but due to fuelling issues and hours of work trying this type of plenum to I eventually took this plenum off as it just wouldn't give me the right increase in pressure I needed in the float bowl to overcome lean-off, even with the necessary 37mm diameter restrictor plate between the carb and plenum.

It would work well on a Normally Aspirated engine but I wouldn't recommend this type of plenum for turbo use.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the feedback, quite helpful. I will keep on searching for the right one. Although I'm not really in a hurry yet, first I need to strip down the engine, but in the meantime I can search for it.
