I have searched high and low on the internet for a compressor map for a T2 as fitted to the Renault 5 or RS Escort but cannot find one. Plenty for T3s and larger.

Can anyone help?

I thought one of the Fords used a T2 - was the Fiesta?

yes the fiesta did, but has a 3 bolt fixing, so not as easy to install on a metty manifold, and will not fit mirage either

I had a great deal of trouble trying to find a Compressor map for a T2 when i was doing a College project on Turbocharging. Couldn't find one anywhere! Best to try a supplier or Garrett! Antman

Glad to see that I am not alone in my search.

I cannot believe that you guys are using T2s without knowing the compressor performance!

Garett WILL NOT let you have the compressor maps!

do you really need the map??

there's already people using these on their mini turbo's to great effect, and looking at how these turbo's work on original equipment cars it would be a good starting point

if you won't something tailored made to your car try

I would have thought that fitting a turbo to an engine without making sure they are compatible is the easy way to an expensive disaster.

I think that I fitted the T3 to a 998 and drove it everyday in traffic it would soon fail as it would be running to the left of the surge line.

I have actually just about convinced myself that the T2 is the way to go, but it would be good to check the map.

fair enough, i'm sure they'd be a few people interested on this forum if you find some compressor maps, try and make sure its specific to the obvious turbo options, as i'm sure the compressor/turbine maps are specific to trim and a/r etc

The best info I have found is this:

http://www.gcg.com.au/Technical Data/garrett t2-25 flow map.jpg

Although the baseline is in kW instead of air flow, it gives a good indication that you can come down a long way before having to drop boost before crossing the surge line.

All I need now is the turbine performance so that I can be sure it will come in at lowish revs.

Once I have decided on the turbo and engine combo, I can start collecting the bits.

If you look at my other post in the Intro section you will see that mini1071 has made some interesting suggestions regarding engine selection.

Never really thought of surging in a turbo, had one of our gas turbines surging the other week, makes one hell of a noise! soon stopped that!!
